Which personally inspired me to take art and illustration as profession, I love illustrated books. And in each book illustration projects, I whole-heartedly try to draw like the illustrations I used to love to see when I was a kid. The translation was done by my friend, famous Bengali writer and translator AND artist Pratim Das, and it was my opportunity when I got the scope to illustrate this book.
Like the original book, the novel is segmented into different chapters and our plan was to put puctures on almost each page of the book, but there was some obvious limitations regarding volume - and of course price of the book. We wanted to keep the price minimal, so that every children can afford the classic.
I illustrated altogether 46 pictures, including headpieces for each chapters, and the book layout artist cleverly utilized empty spaces, where interior illustratons could be inserted.
