I recently started a fan project revamping well-known bengali heroes from various writers and sharing on my facebook and page, obviously in my favorite style - which is comic book art. Now thought about publishing the steps involving my coloring method, so here we go.

This is very rough sketch

Based upon sketch, here is the ink - I always use 3 brushes : 8px, 16px pressure mapped to size; and variable size round brush. I also use eraser in same settings like the brush to carve out light from dark.

Now in a separate layer underneath ink I enclose whole area with any color using a large round brush, for sharp areas I some time draw using brush with pressure mapped to size.

when the whole area is enclosed, I simply fill in using bucket. After that using a comparatively smaller brush I cover the brush-bucket gaps, so that I get a solid fill of the character.

As now I have the solid block of the character, I lock opacity of the fill layer and using lasso and bucket, I select the large color block - in this pic, the jacket and fill.

Now it's time to color fill different areas, to do this I paint the overlapping areas and then fill the areas with bucket, then pain the gap - and so on.

Now I have my flat - it's time to add light and shadow. In this phase magic wand is very handy. still keeping opacity locked, I select a block using wand, sample color from the flat, change that to darker for shadows and brighter for high lights and paint and blend. To paint I generally use a block brush of variable size and then blend using water brush.

Ok, after repeating the paint and blend step, this is what I get.

Lastly it's time to dramatize the whole pic - which definitely needs a background behind the fill layer, linear and angle gradients with some tweaks on blend mode makes this fast and effective. lastly to smooth lines, I lock opacity of the ink layer and add highlight matching with background

So that's all!

Ok, this is not a proper tutorial - rather just can be regarded as steps shots to share my work flow. Pl let me know what do you think about it.
